On October 24th and 25th, Brock's Department of Teacher
Education held its third annual arts conference called Arts Matter: Integrating
the Arts Across the Curriculum. The conference was designed especially for Brock's teacher
candidates and provided additional instruction in the arts. The focus of this
conference was on valuing the arts and their integration across the curriculum.
With drama as a teachable, I am especially aware of the value that arts can
have on learning and building self esteem and I look forward to incorporating
music, dance, drama and visual arts into my own classroom throughout my
teaching career. I appreciated the visual arts workshop the most as I was
introduced to a variety of activities that I had never participated in before.
Throughout the Arts Matter conference, we were shown
power points and instructional
videos, however, these presentations were the extent of the technology used
over the course of the two days.
